Berts Towing, Inc. is a 24-hour, 365 day a year business which has been serving Northwest Indiana and the Chicagoland area since 1956. We are currently looking to expand our team and are looking for LIGHT DUTY TOW TRUCK OPERATORS.
Successful candidates must have
- Indiana For-Hire Endorsement (Class C CDL or other state equivalent)
- A flexible schedule and be able to work on call shifts.
All candidates must be able to meet FMCSA/DOT requirements for Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) drivers; including drug-test, DOT Physical, and have a clean driving record.
Primary duties include
- Operation of a CMV (under 26000 # GVW)
- Towing, transport, and or recovery of vehicles and equipment
- Winch outs
- Jump starts
- Tire changes
- Assist on heavy duty accident recoveries
- Associated tasks
Additional duties include basic vehicle maintenance, stocking supplies, cleaning the shop.
Successful candidates must possess a strong work ethic and be a self-manager; demonstrating self-control and an ability to manage time, prioritize goals, decide what must be done, and be accountable to complete necessary tasks. Good customer service and communication skills are a must.
Minimum 1 year experience in the towing industry is a must.

Primary duties include
- Operation of a CMV (greater than 26000 # GVW)
- Towing, transport, and or recovery of vehicles and equipment; including tractors, tractor/trailer combo, box trucks, etc.

Berts Towing, Inc. is a 24-hour, 365 day a year business which has been serving Northwest Indiana and the Chicagoland area since 1956. We are currently looking to expand our team and are looking for a Fleet Mechanic / Tow Truck Operator.
This is a hybrid position – with approximately 40% of time will be spent maintaining our fleet and 60% spent operating a tow truck. Berts Towing has an updated fleet of vehicles, so most of the maintenance is preventative.
Successful candidates must have
- Class A CDL
- Ability to drive a 13-speed Manual Transmission
- Verifiable mechanic experience
- Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, air brakes, electrical systems
- Knowledge of Tractor/Trailers, Rotators, Heavy Wreckers, Flat Bed Tow Trucks, Industrial Equipment (skid steer, excavator, telehandler, fork-lift, etc.)
All candidates must be able to meet FMCSA/DOT requirements for Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) drivers; including drug-test, DOT Physical, and have a clean driving record.
Primary duties include
- Forecasting and scheduling of preventive maintenance.
- Performing preventive maintenance.
- Performing critical maintenance, and/or scheduling service at repair facilities.
- Scheduling annual inspection.
- Maintaining maintenance logs and costs associated for all fleet vehicles.
- Keeping the shop clean and stocked.
- Release of impounded vehicles.
- Transport of equipment.
- Light to Heavy Duty Towing.
- All other tasks as assigned.

All candidates must be able to meet FMCSA/DOT requirements for Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) drivers; including drug-test, DOT Physical, and have a clean driving record.
Primary duties include
- Forecasting and scheduling of preventive maintenance.
- Operation of a company owned Tractor/Trailer
- Transport vehicles and equipment (industrial equipment, sea containers, generators, etc.)
- Assist on Heavy Duty accident recoveries
- Associated tasks
Additional duties include light and heavy duty towing as needed, basic vehicle maintenance, stocking supplies and cleaning the shop.
Successful candidates must possess a strong work ethic and be a self-manager; demonstrating self-control and an ability to manage time, prioritize goals, decide what must be done, and be accountable to complete necessary tasks. Good customer service and communication skills are a must.
Minimum 1 year experience in commercial driving is a must, and previous towing experience is a plus.
